The Hollands live in Clayton.
Candace Lang
Vice President
Candace has been working with children with special needs since she was a teenager. As her love for this population grew, she decided to attend Nazareth college of Rochester where she graduated with a degree in Speech pathology. Candace worked as a Speech Therapist in both New York and Massachusetts. She is married and has two beautiful daughters. Her oldest was born with cerebral palsy and later diagnosed with autism. Candace saw the importance of being a proactive advocate for her daughter and where there were barriers she built bridges. She developed a special needs playgroup/parent support group during Erin’s preschool years, a special needs ministry during her elementary years, and a dance program during her teen years. Now Candace and her husband are faced with their greatest challenge, who will care for their daughter when they are no longer able. Candace teamed up with Jeff Holland in 2023 when she learned of the great work his nonprofit, My Forever Home was doing for adults with disabilities and their families. Jeff, Candace and the entire team of My Forever Home share a vision of developing a community within a larger community where adults with disabilities lead a purposeful life in a place where they are accepted, able to reach their full potential and where they are active members in their community.

Jeff Garrett
Treasurer
Jeff Garrett grew up in eastern North Carolina and moved to Raleigh to attend NC State University. After graduating with BA in Business Management and Economics, he began work at Kerr Drugs, a regional chain drugstore, where he met his wife Ann. They were married, moved to Wake Forest and had two beautiful daughters.
Jeff is currently a residential REALTOR®/Broker with Allen Tate Realtors after a second career in IT sales management for a regional service provider. Both Ann and Jeff’s girls are young women now and have entered the workforce. Their oldest daughter has Down syndrome and her calendar keeps them on their toes with her work schedule and social activities.
While their hope was always for their daughter to live independently, there were some unique challenges that made traditional apartment living unappealing. Having her live in a stand-alone home amongst a supportive community was beyond their wildest dreams. My Forever Home has evolved into not only a very suitable living solution for their daughter but also a wonderfully supportive community of families in a similar situation. Ann and Jeff have been involved in the My Forever Home for a couple of years and look forward to its completion!
